Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed when the Gunners’ latest signing will be able to play his first game in the club’s colours.

The new Arsenal manager has been active in the transfer market this summer, making more signings than Arsene Wenger had completed at this time last year.

One of those new recruits is of course Lucas Torreira, who completed a £26.5m move to north London from Sampdoria, after Uruguay’s World Cup campaign was brought to an end.

The 22-year-old is yet to play a game in an Arsenal shirt, but after joining his new teammates for pre-season training this week, the wait could soon be over.

According to Emery, the midfielder will finally be handed some minutes in the Gunners’ colours this weekend as the team faces Lazio.

“At the moment I am very happy with the players who are with here with us.” the Arsenal manager said

“There are more coming; Nacho Monreal, Lucas [Torreira] and [Granit] Xhaka will start to play some minutes on Saturday.”
