It is safe to say Granit Xhaka did not receive rave reviews for his performance on Saturday as the Gunners were beaten 1-0 by Stoke City.

Mark Hughes’ side rode their luck and managed to hold on to a narrow lead which came courtesy of a goal from Jese Rodriguez as he made his Premier League debut.

And one man who was deemed to have played a part in the build-up to that winning goal which Arsenal conceded was holding midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The 24-year-old kept his place in the starting line-up on Saturday as Mohamed Elneny was dropped from the team for Aaron Ramsey.

However, Arsenal’s defensive woes in the middle of the pitch when without the ball was once again a concern as Stoke City scored a fairly avoidable goal early in the second half.
