Ever since Arsenal last went on a victory parade in 2005, every summer has seen at least one member of Arsene Wenger’s regular starting eleven say goodbye to the Gunners.
From the Vieira to Van Persie deals, some of the final handshakes in these departures have been with mutual consent while the rest have been ill-fated. But whether you viewed them as a big miss or good riddance, the exits of these players have had a thing or two to do with disrupting the team chemistry.
For every summer in the past eight barren years, Arsenal has been the selling club and every new season has been about transition and moving on from ‘traitors’.
But it seems like bold £40m bids are not the only thing different about this summer and here is why…
Ashley Cole, Robert Pires and Sol Campbell
Mathieu Flamini and Alex Hleb
Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri
