French journalist Julien Laurens has claimed that the Gunners will now focus on trying to sign a midfielder in the Premier League after the failed attempt to secure the services of Lyon star Houssem Aouar.

Arsenal are currently in a relatively desperate need for a midfielder who can create goal-scoring opportunities for the front-line following the continued absence of chief playmaker Mesut Ozil.

With the German seemingly no longer a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans, the Arsenal boss had been chasing the signature of Houssem Aouar but the Gunners were not able match Lyon’s demands after witnessing a bid get rejected.

As a result, French journalist Julien Laurens is boldly claiming that the Gunners will now look to sign Jorginho from Chelsea before the transfer window is closed in a couple of days.

THE BOTTOM LINE

In our recent Premier League games against West Ham and Liverpool, there has been a missing spark of creativity from the midfield.

It just seems like the current squad is stacked up with midfielders who are either box-to-box or defensive players and if Arteta has any ambitions of challenging for a top four spot, that has to change.

We cannot always rely on the full-backs setting one up for Aubameyang to score. There has to be a reliable source of service for the strikers from our midfield and even though Houssem Aouar was probably the best target for that job, Jorginho – being the decent passer he is – can made do for now…if we can actually convince Chelsea to sell him to a rival.
