BBC pundit Gary Lineker took to social media to react to Arsenal’s agonising loss at home to Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Gunners went into Thursday’s clash with the Greek giants on the back of a victory last week in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 tie.

Arsenal were deemed to be the obvious favourites after a goal from Alexandre Lacazette in Greece had given them an early advantage in the knockout tie.

However, Olympiacos opened the scoring at the Emirates stadium to even matters before defending well to take the game to extra time.

Arsenal did manage to break the Greek side’s resistance in extra time as a wonderful acrobatic goal from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang made it 2-1 on aggregate.

But a dramatic late goal from the away side in the dying minutes of the game knocked the Gunners out of the competition, which probably served as their last hope of qualifying for the Champions League.

The result stunned Gary Lineker, who took to Twitter to label it an ‘absolute shocker’ for Mikel Arteta’s side.
