Gary Neville has admitted that he is ‘concerned’ about the way Arsenal handled their business in the late stages of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners began Thursday by completing the sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool, only days after the midfielder had featured in the 4-0 thrashing at Anfield.

Arsene Wenger was expected to respond to the recent defeat in the Premier League by securing at least one more new signing before the window closed.

However, it nearly got worse for Arsenal as Alexis Sanchez came close to joining Manchester City after a £60 million fee had been agreed between the two clubs.

That saw the Gunners make a last-ditch approach for Thomas Lemar which turned out to be unsuccessful, leaving more fans frustrated.

Thus, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has expressed his disappointment over the way transfer business was handled at the club.

“From Arsenal’s point of view, I’m a little bit sad because I didn’t want them to be a story and I wanted the questions about Wenger to fade away because they are a great club and he is a great manager.” the former United defender said

“I’m concerned that if the business isn’t good then they could be consumed by negativity.”
