Arsene Wenger claims the departure of midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is unlikely to occur, contrary to reports.

The Arsenal manager has failed to convince several key players to extend their contracts at the Emirates stadium so far.

And Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who only has a year remaining in his deal, has been rumoured to be considering a departure.

Recent reports have strongly linked the 23-year-old with a move to Liverpool who have expressed an interest in his services.

That also comes after rumours which have suggested that Oxlade-Chamberlain has turned down a new deal at the club.

But according to Wenger, the England international, who is currently pocketing £65,000-a-week in wages, will be playing for Arsenal regardless of what is being speculated.

“Yes. 100%, I expect him to stay. No matter the speculation, he will stay.” the Arsenal manager said

Oxlade-Chamberlain played a key role for the Gunners towards the end of last season as he was deployed in the wing-back position.
