Arsenal are yet to secure any big-name new signings in the summer transfer window so far, but Unai Emery has made at least one important move within the squad.

The Arsenal boss watched his side maintain their dreadful defensive record from Arsene Wenger’s last season at the club, but there are defenders in the current squad who are still worth keeping.

One of them is Nacho Monreal, who has grown into a vital player at the club, after gradually cementing a spot in the starting eleven following his move to the Emirates stadium in 2013.

After a below-par 2018/19 season for everyone at Arsenal, the Spaniard was definitely not guaranteed a future at the club, especially with age no longer on his side.

However, amid false rumours of him leaving the club (as per Tuko), Nacho Monreal has actually been handed a new contract to remain at Arsenal, according to journalist Daniel Cutts.

The veteran Spanish defender will now remain at the Emirates stadium for another season as the Gunners look to secure a return to the Champions League.
