Arsene Wenger’s chances of landing one of his top attacking midfield targets has improved according to rumours from Spain.
The Arsenal manager is believed to be considering the addition of a new option in attack as the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stall on contract renewals.
As a result, Wenger has been linked with a move for Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez whom he failed to lure last summer.
And according to Spanish outlet Sport, Mahrez is closer to joining Arsenal after giving up on his priority move to Barcelona.
The report is claiming that the 26-year-old is no longer intent on waiting for a switch to the Camp Nou and he is now willing to agree a four-year deal with Arsenal.
Leicester City are believed to be demanding a transfer fee of at least $44.6 million (£35 million) for the Algeria international who was crowned PFA Player of the Year two seasons ago.
