Gunners Gain: Chelsea draw 2-2 with Tottenham received a boost in their fiesty challenge for a top four finish as Wednesday’s mighty clash between Chelsea and Tottenham saw both sides drop points in an enjoyable 2-2 draw.

Chelsea began the night on the front foot and forced a corner from which Oscar helped Cahill’s header into the net after just ten minutes.

The home side seemed to mean business today and could always have put their north London opponents to bed with a second goal, but out of nothing Spurs were level.

Arsenal’s nearest neighbours broke into a counter-attack spear-headed by former Gunner Adebayor who waited, waited and picked his spot in the top corner of the net. Tottenham’s no. 25 had netted a scorcher from about 25 yards out.

And if the response from Villas-Boas’ men to going behind was nothing short of sensational, then that of Benitez’s men following Adebayor’s equalizer was worthy of praise too.

The visitors were a caught in a swift move by Chelsea and Ramires capitalized by curling a low shot across Lloris from the edge of the area to hand the home side another lead.

It all looked to have crumbled for Arsenal as far their hopes of third place finish were concerned as Chelsea inched closer to a victory which would have not just tightened their grip on that third spot but effectively sealed a top four place or them.

But with just ten minutes to go, Adebayor laid off the ball so well for Sigurdsson who coolly finished past Cech as it all ended in a pulsating 2-2 draw.

Chelsea now sit at third with 69 points, followed by Arsenal with 67 while Tottenham have 66.

  1. worst result possible for the gooners, plus points lost with wigan and the geordies COYS

    1. Worse result for spuds, points lost at Cheatski and soon with Stoke and Sunderland….no CL place once again….finishing below the Arsenal once again….another typical Spuds season

  2. Lets hope now benteke can pull something out this weekend to give the gunners that fighting edge…COYG….

  3. I disagree, we needed Chelsea to win, they would have taken there foot off the gas for there remaining games and we could’ve nabbed 3rd and also it would have left Spurs 2 points behind us, with our goal difference we would of needed just a win and a draw from our last 2, now we need to WIN BOTH GAMES, and we failed to win against Wigan at Home or Newcastle away last year.
Trust me we are screwed I have a sickly feeling that something is going to go wrong ever since that idiot Szcezsny opened his mouth.

Stoke away is hard for Spurs lets hope they do a typical Spurs and blow it against them

    1. It maybe karma and a little unprofessional but i disagree, Szcezsny was just giving a little banter it shows the spirit this arsenal team have, i think the attitude has changed this year, provided no major changes are made this team is moulding and growing well, 3rd place is still up for grabs.

    2. Bang on jayjay, except spuds won’t lose their last games, destiny in our hands only and I fear Wigan and Newcastle are going to spoil it as they need to win their games as we do

    3. Jaayjay…you live in disneyworld mate…..cheatski will not take their foot off the gas regardless of winning or losing….what would have been bad is for our players to think like you….take our foot off the gas and opps…we losea game and opps your sickly feeling is now a full blown plague! you are screwed with your poor attitude…which I desperately hope the players don’t share.
Fuck Spuds….Arsenal cant depend on other teams to do their work or ¨help¨them along…they need 2 wins and that’s it… get out there and cheer them on, even if you’ve soiled your shorts once again with your nervy and pessimistic attitude!

  4. Nice result and d best I would have ever wished 4. Now our destiny is in our own hands; win our remaining 2 matches and top 4 here we come. I still see Chelsea dropping points though. Gunners 4 life. Lets go there

  5. It’s all over. Arsenal have only got to be Wigan and Newcastle. Both are appalling. I would expect Arsenal to win both games by 3 or 4.

  6. Worst possible result was a Spurs win which would have left both Chelsea and Spurs above us on points. That much should be obvious.

A chelsea win would have allowed Arsenal to draw a game and still make 4th spot but would have allowed Chelsea to slip up in one of their games and still qualify in 3rd.

The draw means that 4th place is in Arsenal’s hands and any slip from Chelsea will give Arsenal 3rd place.

So probably the best possible result. The fact that Mike Dean is going to referee the Arsenal game is a far, far, more serious blow to Arsenal’s chances.

    1. Great attitude TT….you are a true supporter! I agree that Dean will make it hard for us but he can’t call back 3 goals or award 3 dubious penalties so we need to come out like tigers….anything else will be an insult to their loyal fans and supporters!

  7. A good result for the gunners but all still to play for … hopefully Stoke make it a little bit easier for us by taking points off Spurs… Anyway Fingers well and truly crossed

  8. CL spot is widely open 4 everybody nw, with chelsea still plays A/villa, europa final, b4 hosting Everton, Arsenal playing wigan nd N/castle nd Spurs playing stoke away which is very dificult nd D Canio of sundaland.
Lets c who will on less preasure, i think arsenal could secure 3rd place!

  9. Best result gooners could have got but we had to rely on another teams results(poor)but we got the result and its in our hands again!
