Dietmar Hamann has called for Arsenal to make significant transfer moves this summer to have any hopes of competing next season.
Arsene Wenger’s expected decision to remain at the club means the Frenchman will once again be under pressure to spend big ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
But former Liverpool and Manchester City star Hamman insists spending big on new signings might not be enough because almost every player in the current squad will have to be replaced.
“Arsenal really need to look at every single position this summer if they are to change their fortunes.” Hamann said
“There’s not one particular area they need to fix, they have to strengthen everywhere.
“The goalkeeper and defence need help, the jury is still out on Granit Xhaka in midfield, and then you need to see if they’ve got enough firepower going forward as well.
“Who have they got beside Alexis Sanchez to score goals?
“Every department at the club needs looking at for me. Especially their scouting because it hasn’t been the same since Liam Brady left the club.”
