Former Chelsea staff member Ray Wilkins has suggested that Arsenal could find a replacement for Arsene Wenger at Southampton.
The future of the Gunners boss, who has one year remaining on his contract at the club, has been questioned by many following a mid-season collapse which saw his side go from favourites for the Premier League title to falling 10 points adrift of leaders Leicester City.
Ronaldo Koeman and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone have been linked with the managerial role at the Emirates stadium if Wenger’s reign is ever brought to an end.
But according to Wilkins, the current Southampton boss should be the clear favourite.
“Ronald Koeman could go into Arsenal tomorrow,” the former Chelsea and Aston Villa coach told talkSPORT.
“I’ve been so impressed with him. He’s built two teams at Southampton, and he’s been mentioned for the Manchester United job in the past.
“He’s done a wonderful job there. He loves to play the younger guys as well, he gives them an opportunity to play regular first-team football. And of course he has the experience of being with some massive clubs as a player.”
