‘He’s a top player’ – Emery’s summer signing reveals the Arsenal player he’s been impressed with

Unai Emery’s summer signing David Luiz has revealed the Arsenal player who has impressed him tremendously after his move to the Emirates stadium over the summer. 

After failing to qualify for the Champions League last term, Emery was forced to spend big in the transfer market during the summer as he looked to improve his squad in various positions.

That saw the Arsenal boss spend more money in a summer transfer window than his predecessor Arsene Wenger ever did, as the Gunners made late swoops for a number of players.

One of the deals saw Arsenal secure the signing of Gabriel Martinelli, a Brazilian talent who moved to north London without much experience in first-team football.

However, after a wonderful start in England, which sees him sitting behind only Aubameyang in the team’s scoring tallies, Martinelli has received plenty of plaudits.

And adding to the praises is his countryman David Luiz, who has picked out the youngster as one of the most impressive players he has met at the club.

“I’m not going to say who is the best talent, but the best mentality at the moment is Martinelli,” Luiz told 90min.com.

“He has a great mentality, it is special, he is a top guy, a top player, but what really impresses me is his mentality on the training ground, and the way he reacts to scoring goals, like at Anfield, and how he continues to work with a great mentality.

“He is taking his opportunity step by step and he has the same focus, determination and respect for everything and he is so mature for his age.”
