Arsenal have been boosted by the news that one of Manchester City’s key players will not be able to play a part in Sunday’s showdown at the Etihad stadium.

The Gunners are set to lock horns with Pep Guardiola’s side who took advantage of Arsenal’s slip up at Everton by beating Watford 2-0 on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal have been dealt some injury blows as usual in recent weeks but their next opponents are facing a similar situation of having a number of important players ruled out of action.

Ilkay Gundogan is the latest man to be deemed unavailable for Manchester City after suffering what appeared to be a severe knee ligament damage during the clash with Watford.

City’s summer signing from Borussia Dortmund, who has been a key part of their new-look midfield, is preparing for several months out of action according to his manager Pep Guardiola.

“I’m so sad for Ilkay Gundogan as it looks like we’ll be without him for a long time. I think several months.” the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss said

Gundogan now joins Sergio Aguero and Fernadinho on the list of players who will definitely not be involved when Arsene Wenger takes his side to Manchester City on Sunday.
