The Gunners have revealed the latest on the status of Nacho Monreal ahead of the clash with Valencia in the Europa League.

Unai Emery has watched his team play well below normal standards in recent weeks and he will be hoping the current run is brought to an end when Valencia visit the Emirates stadium on Thursday night.

The Arsenal manager has not had any better luck with injuries than his predecessor Arsene Wenger, with a host of first team players currently on the sidelines.

Nacho Monreal is one of the players who have been struggling to stay fit this season – the Spaniard has been nursing a calf problem over the past couple of games.

Even though Monreal has had his inconsistent periods – like just about any other player in the Arsenal squad – he remains a very vital man for Emery.

Ahead of the clash with Valencia, the club’s medical staff has revealed that there is a chance of him being included in the match day squad as he is set for a fitness assessment ahead of the game.

“Right calf. Being assessed ahead of Thursday’s match against Valencia.” an update from the club’s official website said.
