Reliable journalist reveals Arsenal ‘have never been interested’ in player strongly linked with Gunners
As usual, the Gunners have been linked with several players this summer but it definitely appears as though there have been fabrications behind some of the transfer rumours.
After Arsenal’s abysmal defensive record from last season, Unai Emery would have been expected to address that issue by adding a new centre-back to the squad.
Thus, the Arsenal boss has been strongly linked with a move to sign Joachim Andersen from Sampdoria, the same club who handed Lucas Torreira to the Gunners last year.
In fact, a report by Calcio Mercato journalist Nicolo Schira went as far as saying the Gunners had submitted a bid to sign the 23-year-old last month.
However, another Italian journalist has stepped in to reveal the truth, claiming that Andersen is closing in on a transfer move to Lyon and not the Emirates stadium.
Interestingly, Fabrizio Romano has added that Arsenal were actually ‘never’ interested in signing the defender anyway, suggesting that rumours about Andersen to Arsenal were pure fabrication.
Joachim Andersen to Olympique Lyonnais, done deal. He’ll sign for 5 years, €25M + €5M add ons to Sampdoria. Arsenal have never been interested in him. Andersen is ready to join OL. Here we go! 🇫🇷 #transfers #OL
