Jurgen Klopp has accused Southampton of helping Arsenal secure all the three points in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.
After struggling to produce efforts on goal in the first half, the Gunners managed to score twice after the restart to clinch a vital victory in the race for a top four place.
The result came only three days after Southamtpon had held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw in a game which saw the Saints register a rare clean sheet on the road.
Thus, Liverpool boss Klopp has suggested that Arsenal’s 2-0 win in midweek appeared to be a favour from Claude Puel’s side.
“In our last game against Southampton we had 70% possession,” Klopp said.
“Southampton played very, very defensive orientated against us.
“I saw their game on Wednesday (against Arsenal) and it was a very open game.
“I’m not sure why they did this favour to Arsenal but it was a completely different game.”
Arsenal are currently four points behind third-placed Liverpool but the Gunners do have the advantage of a game in hand.
