Arsenal will be eager to put things right when they face newly crowned champions Liverpool on Wednesday evening, only a few days after the frustrating 2-1 loss away to Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.

In goal, Emi Martinez deserves another start regardless of whether Bernd Leno would be available or not, due to the South American’s strong display against Spurs which should not have seen him end up on the losing side.

After that sloppy defensive show in the derby, Mikel Arteta has to revert to a four-man backline which should witness the likes of Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin – a couple of Sunday’s most disappointing performers – drop to the bench.

The duo should be replaced by Tierney and Maitland-Niles who are more assured on the ball and possess better discipline. Despite their below-par performances over the weekend, Mustafi and Luiz can only keep their place due to the lack of options available.

In midfield, Xhaka and Ceballos need another chance to keep their partnership going while the presence of Saka should add more defensive awareness on the left side of the pitch as he combines with Tierney.

And for the front three, Lacazette should retain his spot after that brilliant effort on Sunday while Aubameyang and Pepe join him on the flanks.

PREDICTED TEAM

Martinez

Maitland-Niles – Mustafi – Luiz – Tierney

Xhaka – Ceballos – Saka

Pepe – Lacazette – Aubameyang
