The personal terms of an Arsenal transfer deal which recently failed to be finalised has been broken down by a Sky Sports journalist.
It appears that Arsene Wenger’s main aim during this month has been offloading players whose services may no longer be required.
Carl Jenkinson was one of the first team stars bound for a departure earlier in January after failing to challenge Hector Bellerin for the starting spot at right-back.
However, the 24-year-old’s proposed move to Crystal palace failed to be completed before Wenger revealed the player could not agree personal terms with Sam Allardyce’s side.
According to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Jenkinson turned down the offer to join the Eagles after realising what they were ready to pay their new signing from Leicester City, Jeffrey Schlupp.
“Carl Jenkinson move from Arsenal to Crystal Palace stalled when he was offered £35k a week & discovered Jeffrey Schlupp was on £56k a week” Solhekol said on social media
With the transfer window still open for a few hours, it remains to be seen whether Jenkinson could still end up with the relegation-threatened Premier League side.
