Man. City’s threat to Arsenal – scared or not?
Welcome to the Fantasy Debate.
This is where an interesting question/topic is posed for your responses. The comment with the most number of thumbs up will obviously be the best response made in the debate.
Today’s topic is:
How much of a threat are Man. City after strengthening their squad again this summer?
Manchester City’s eclectic squad has grown even stronger this summer. And after the additions of Yaya Toure and David Silva, the Eastlands club have arguably the deepest and most star-studded squad in the Premier League.
But is that enough for them to be a real threat to the Gunners’ pursuit of the title and a stay in the top four or are Mancini’s men not yet there for you?
Great individual talents, however can basically a brand new starting 11 gel? Dont thinks so, dont forget we are still improving, and transfer window doesnt end for ages, im hoping for a keeper and a cb cmon Arsene do it for us
Couldn’t give one tbh. They’ve simply replaced Liverpool in the top 4. Yes the yido’s will crumble away this season..
If slightly scared. The attacking power of Man City is pretty hardcore now. They still have defensive frailties and Boateng is an unproven element but I think they have the squad to fight for the Premiership now sadly, maybe not the manager and team spirit though.
I am afraid, YES. They won’t be able to play football like us, but they will be big, strong, and DIRECT. They will go (as AW once said of Aaron Ramsey), “straight where it hurts.” So yes, I am afraid of City’s threat because we’re light in the back and butter soft in goal, and teams like City, with massive talent, will just run straight at us, Route 1, all day long. Still think we’ll finish above them though.
I dont seem to understnd .. isnt Totenham threaten? or the aging united and chelski
There was a star-studded team years ago, called ‘Galcticos’.
Result ? …. You know 🙂
i want to believe that the team will stuggle thro this season cos it is just a collection of good players. This will bring disharmony in the team cos a lot of these players will not play enough games.I expect them to go for 5th or 6th

There was also a team called Chelski who managed to buy the title.
Im scared that Man City will just run over all the teams outside of the top 6. Any1 who does that will always be in the mix at the top of the table.
If they play well they are a threat to any team. Why is it the mindset that it is Arsenal who every team is gunning for?
I dont think its safe to say that our defense in to good and our goalies will not be any good based on one match. Yes it was five silly goals but that can happen.
I believe another defender will come in and I would like to see another experienced goalie so that the competition will keep the top goalies on there toes. Almunia is a shoe in for number 1 and I dont think that is good.
Blessings!
it is eleven players on the pitch,
eleven against eleven and the eleven that work their socks off GAME AFTER GAME WILL WIN THE LEAGUE..
first thing is concentration at every single dept, both in defence and midfield.
true maNchester city have bought some good players but we know that in the premier league ,it is down to consistency and how you respond on the pitch during a game that matters.
i remember last season,a lot of people even tv pundits wrote us off ,saying we will drop from top 4,eventually livepool dropped from the top 4.
Mighty Arsenal Fc have a good talented squad but my fear is that of depth.we dont have that yet,but if wenger can get another CENTRAL DEFENDER AND GOALKEEPER,THEN I THINK WE WILL DO VERY WELL.
we need to buy, its as simple as that
Didnt Wenger say he would?
wtf?? how r man city a treat to arsenal? u mean a threat to chelsea?? think about it…every season arsenal r meant to finish 10th or wotever cause we havent spent £50m every transfer window! and where to we finish?? oh yeah top 4 EVERY time!
the ‘big four’ teams r arsenal, man u, liverpool and chelsea (cause of MONEY!) arsenal, man u and liverpool all have HISTORY and r well respected! so each of these teams have different ways of getting the players they want/need!
…everyone knows if your a young up and coming player and can play beautiful football then its best to go to arsenal! therefore money is no issue for arsenal as we can get good youngsters and due to our excellent finances arsenal can dominate in the future!
man u r man u! probably the most well known or biggest club in the world! and they have lots of money so they can get any player they want!
liverpool are a massive club with excellent history especially in european footy so they can get foreign players who wanna win champions league!
and now chelsea a joke club with no history and massive spending power!! the only way they can get players is by paying them big monies!! so man u, liverpool and arsenal are always gonna b near the top! man city r just a bigger and better and richer chelsea! so why would u go to chelsea for a tiny £100k a week wen u could goto man city for £250k a week!!!
so my point is fuck off saying its scary for arsenal! its scary for the big MONEY clubs! not arsenal as we dont rely on MONEY! chelsea r the club who should be the most scared of man city and losing their place in top 4!
and dont give me any bullshit about drogba being a good player! he is shite! along with the rest of their ageing squad! so wen chelsea need to spend another 500 billion pounds on a new team man city r there this time to offer money grabbing players a more attractive club than chelsea! so trust me…chelsea be scared, be very scared as if u have a sht season and lose ur place in the top 4…your 5 years of being a BIG club is over! u can go back being a shitty lil london club battling spurs for mid table positions!
I remember Wenger’s comment on South Africa at the world cup – he said that Bafana Bafana lacked some star players. Here’s even Wenger admitting that individual stars can change results.
Man City have strung a whole stash of stars together and even when they have their bad days, you’d have to imagine that at least one star can turn it on for any given day.
A threat? Yes, but to the whole top 4. The only question mark for me is Mancini – after spending millions last season and hunting for 4th, he comes to Arsenal and plays for a 0-0 draw – that is not the kind of intent you want to see from a top 4 team.
I would want us The Arsenal to focus on our own preparation for the new season and let others worry about us rather than us about them. There’s no point just worrying about one team but rather all the teams in the Premier League. Experience had taught us that even the mid-table teams can cause banana skin to the top teams in the Premier League.
As said by Erichero;
‘A threat? Yes, but to the whole top 4’.
This time round We are going to have some hard times. We just let 2 of our best CBs go and a back up CB too, replaced them with a light weight version of Vermaelen while promoting Mr Calamity flappy to first choice keeper. Atleast no one will say we didn’t see it coming.
Come on guys, Mancini is WAY out of his depth. He can’t even speak English and he’s supposed to make a brand new squad of players gel and compete in the most competitive league in the world, about which he knows very little. Don’t make me laugh. He’ll be gone by Christmas.
History would suggest yes, City are a threat to all the top teams. Our own history proves it. Herbert Chapman came to Arsenal in 1925 with a promise to deliver a trophy within 5 years. With huge funding he delivered, The Arsenal became known as The Bank of England and the rest we know. Blackburn bought their title, Chelski used the russian electrician to grow from complete mid table/relegation/mid table obscurity, and as long as the oil gushes from the Gulf, City will have funds to buy beyond belief. Depressing eh? Well not entirely. The City project will only last until the implication of the new rules on “home grown” players are implemented and the UEFA solvency rules are applied. If a club cannot prove the figures do not add up. then Sheikh Sugar Daddy, the Russian Mafia and all the other American and non American leveraged funding shysters will no longer see football as a cash cow, to fund their obscene debts elsewhere or in the case of the City camel humpers as attractive. Sky spend fortunes to offer a competitive Super Sunday down to the wire Premier League and a one horse camel race loses them money. City are a short term threat, no more than that,My scenario though entirely depends on the FA/UEFA.FIFA to apply the rules they have promised to, If not? No more Prermier League, we will be travelling across Europe to away games in Moscow in a re-defined European Premier League. But with the kids we got, we will easily qualify for that. EIE
Once bitten twice shy! We must beat Man city dis season!
With Cesc Arshaven and Robin playing at their best and Song Diaby and few others playing right up to their potential consistantly we are in the fight. BUT OH HOW WE NEED A GOALKEEPER!!!Consistancy is the word!!!!
