Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli appears to have given a hint about his desire to take over at Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are believed to be in search of a new boss following recent protests calling for Arsene Wenger to step down after this season.

So far, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has been deemed as the favourite to replace the Frenchman at the Emirates stadium.

However, there could be a new name in the hat following Sampaoli’s admission that he would like to work with one of Arsenal’s key players again.

The Argentine tactician, who has taken Sevilla to impressive new heights this season, insists the opportunity to coach Alexis Sanchez again would be hard to resist.

“If only, yes, it would be great to have the chance one day [to coach Sanchez],” Sampaoli was quoted as saying.

“He is a top, top player. One of the best forwards in the world I would say.

“I was lucky to share a time with him in the national team. We went to a World Cup together, we won the Copa America with him in the side as well, it was a very satisfying period of my career and it was great to share it with Alexis.”
