Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that one of the Gunners’ legends was his childhood hero.

The Red Devils have kept a reputation of being a major rival to Arsenal, particularly ever since Arsene Wenger surprised many by winning his first Premier League title almost two decades ago.

It was following that title triumph that Thierry Henry was recruited by the Arsenal manager as a replacement for Nicolas Anelka.

And according to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, he became an admirer of the prolific French striker during his golden days as the Gunners’ main goal-scorer.

“I always supported Henry when he was playing for Arsenal.” the Armenian star said in an interview

“He is one of my favourite players because at that time I was also playing as a striker as a child. Then I became a midfielder.”

The 27-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of his transfer to Manchester United during the summer.
