Mavropanos and Pepe start, Luiz dropped: 3-4-3 Predicted Arsenal team vs Saints
The Gunners will be in desperate need of the three points when they welcome Southampton to the Emirates stadium this weekend as Unai Emery continues to feel the pressure.
Prior to the international break, Arsenal were beaten in relatively comfortable fashion by Leicester City at the King Power stadium in a match which saw Emery suddenly revert to using three centre-backs in his formation.
Even though the Gunners were defeated by the Foxes, there was no doubt about the fact that Emery’s side produced a slightly improved performance on the road, especially in the first half of the game.
If Arsenal’s concerning defensive record is to change, the manager will have to be bold enough to drop some of his senior players at the back.
David Luiz, who is yet to fully justify his move from Chelsea, will have to be dropped for someone else and thus, Konstantinos Mavropanos would be a good candidate.
The young defender, who is yet to make a start in the Premier League this term, might have something better to deliver than some of the underperforming veterans in the team.
PREDICTED TEAM
