Former Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United star Michael Owen has made a bold prediction for the upcoming clash between Arsenal and Manchester United on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners have struggled all season and after picking up only two points from their last four games, it is now looking as though a place in the top four is out of reach.

The winless run appeared as if it was about to end on Sunday as Arsenal kept hold of a 1-0 lead for much of the game right until two late goals from Chelsea turned the match on its head in agonizing fashion.

Mikel Arteta’s side now have a clash with Manchester United to take care of, having won just one game in all competitions since October.

Thus, it comes as a bit of a surprise that Michael Owen has boldly tipped the Gunners to come out on top on Wednesday.

Arsenal did win this fixture last season but United have no shortage of confidence after winning their last two games.

“Arsenal have yet to win under their new manager, although I think that will change when Manchester United are the visitors to the Emirates on New Year’s Day.” Owen said, via BetVictor

“The Gunners bossed the first 45 minutes against Chelsea on Sunday and, although they faded in the second half, I expect them to build on their improved display against a United side who picked up three points and a rare clean sheet – their first on their travels in the league since February – at Turf Moor on Saturday.

“This is a fixture that rarely disappoints, and I think the hosts will keep the points.

“Tip: Arsenal to win and both teams to score 16/5”
