Mohamed Elneny has reflected on missing out on a place in the starting line-up in the last couple of Premier League games.

The Egyptian international moved to the Emirates stadium from Basel during the January transfer window earlier this year as a direct alternative to Francis Coquelin.

Elneny enjoyed a string of regular appearances towards the end of last season but the arrival of Granit Xhaka has seen his playing time reduce significantly.

Indeed, the 24-year-old is yet to make a start in the league since the 1-1 draw away at Manchester United, but the midfielder is choosing not to complain.

“I don’t have a problem if I start or not. I’m always focused and ready to play, I listen to the manager and I do my best during training.” Elneny was quoted as saying

“Whether I play or not is up to the boss but I am always focused and ready to play. I don’t want to disappoint when I am selected to play.

“We’re professional players and it doesn’t matter who you play alongside. You can’t say I don’t know how to play with a certain player, for example.” he added

“We can adapt to who we are playing alongside. We are all competition to be in the team and we have to make use of the opportunities when they come.”
