Mikel Arteta picks No 1 transfer target to replace Aubameyang
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reportedly made his mind up over who will be his first-choice option to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if the striker does end up leaving the Emirates stadium in the summer.
The future of the Gabon international has been the subject of constant speculation over the past few months with just one year left on his contract at the club.
As a result, Spanish newspaper Sport are claiming that if Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang does choose to leave, Arteta will pursue Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic to replace him.
Jovic, who has gone through a tough debut season at Madrid, has only managed to score two goals so far this term but the report indicates that the Gunners are still keen on choosing him as Aubameyang’s replacement.
The 22-year-old cost around £50million last summer as he signed a six-year contract to join the Spanish club from Eintracht Frankfurt, for whom he scored 27 times in 44 games last season.
