‘My mind is on Arsenal’ – Striker breaks silence over future
Joel Campbell has finally come out to pledge his future to Arsenal after returning to the club for the new season.
The 23-year-old was handed an extended summer break due to his involvement in the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer.
However, the Costa Rica international, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal, has an uncertain future at Arsenal after being linked with various clubs including Palermo and Real Sociedad.
Despite Arsene Wenger’s intentions of offloading Campbell, the player is choosing to remain professional towards the club he joined in 2011.
“My mind is on Arsenal. For now I prefer not to talk about the transfer market.” Campbell said on Tuesday.
Arsene Wenger has been ruthless with dumping several forwards this summer after the exits of Lukas Podolski (permanent transfer), Yaya Sanogo, Serge Gnabry and Chuba Akpom.
Campbell scored one goal in 22 appearances during his loan spell in La Liga last season.
