Arsenal have been handed a slight injury boost ahead of the busy holiday fixtures which are coming up.

Injuries have usually been a concern for the Gunners in recent seasons over the past 12 years which has seen the club fail to win a Premier League title since the 2003/04 triumph.

However, Arsene Wenger had fewer absentees to worry about heading into November after seeing his side make an encouraging start to the new season.

New injury blows for Hector Bellerin and Alexis Sanchez this week have brought back those worries for the Arsenal manager but one of his long-term absentees Per Mertesacker has given a positive update over his fitness.

According to Mertesacker, who has been sidelined since he sustained a knee injury during pre-season in July, he has embraced new methods to speed up his recovery.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and the club are yet to open talks over a new deal.
