Arsene Wenger might have one more trick up his sleeve in the transfer market if emerging reports are anything to go by.

The Arsenal manager stated ahead of last Sunday’s clash with Burnley that he is not pursuing any new signings at the moment.

However, inevitable injury problems as well as the lengthy suspension Granit Xhaka has picked up could provide enough reason for Wenger to dip into the transfer market for the addition of another midfielder.

As a result, the club is now considering the signing of Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira according to speculation passed on by Metro.

The report claims that Arsenal sent out scouts to watch the 25-year-old feature on Saturday as the Portuguese side secured a 4-2 victory over local rivals Rio Ave.

Danilo is believed to have a release clause worth around $43.2 million (£34.5 million) in his contract and the Gunners are apparently intent on a deal late in the current transfer window or during the summer.
