Arsenal defender Stephan Lichtsteiner took to social media to send out a message to the fans after the final whistle on Sunday.
The Gunners went into Sunday’s clash against Manchester City with several injury problems to deal with as Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac were sidelined.
Early into the game, Arsenal were hit with another injury blow as Ainsley Maitland-Niles limped off to be replaced by Stephan Lichtsteiner.
The former Juventus star was forced to make his debut for the Gunners against a clearly in-form Manchester City side.
Unai Emery’s men went on to lose 2-0 after a frustrating day at the Emirates stadium which saw the team fail to put the ball into the net even once.
It was certainly a dissapointing debut in an Arsenal shirt for Stephan Lichtsteiner, who completed his move to north London after Switzerland were knocked out of the World Cup.
Here was the defender’s post on social media after the game…
Disappointed in losing our first game! We will work harder to come back at the highest level!
Thank you fans for your great support! Keep it up, we need it! ??#WeAreTheArsenal? #YaGunnersYa #COYG pic.twitter.com/sNRKMve5IN
