Picture: What Mesut Ozil has posted after that Atletico Madrid game
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil sent out a message to the fans via social media after the clash with Atletico Madrid in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The Gunners thrashed West Ham 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday, only a couple of days after Arsene Wenger’s announcement that he would be stepping down at the end of the season.
With that result, Arsenal went into the Europa League semi-final clash against Atletico Madrid with the right amount of confidence on Thursday.
However, the Gunners found it very hard to break down the Spanish side who were reduced to ten men very early on in the game after a controversial sending off by the referee.
Even though Alexandre Lacazette gave the home side a precious lead in the second half, a major error by Laurent Koscielny in the final minutes of the match saw Atletico somehow steal an away goal in a 1-1 draw.
And here is how Ozil reacted on Twitter…
Obviously not satisfied with this draw after we dominated over 90 minutes. We should have scored more goals – BUT we can do better next week 🙏🏼⚽ Thanks for your amazing support at the Emirates tonight! ❤👏🏼 #YaGunnersYa #COYG #UEL @Arsenal pic.twitter.com/o8MqJPuu5r
