Picture: What Mohamed Elneny has posted after worrying news from Sunday
Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny took to social media to send out a message to the fans after suffering a serious injury during the clash with West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday.
The 25-year-old moved to north London in the January transfer window two years ago, having attracted the interest of Arsenal scouts during his time at Basel.
Elneny has struggled to cement a place in the starting line-up so far in his career as an Arsenal player.
However, courtesy of some encouraging performances in the Europa League this season, the midfielder has been enjoying more playing time in recent months.
With Elneny gradually becoming a key player in the side, it was certainly a major blow for Arsene Wenger as he sustained an ankle injury which forced him to be withdrawn from the game during the second half on Sunday.
Arsenal confirmed on Monday that the Egyptian star has indeed suffered ligament damage to his left ankle.
Despite the bad news, Elneny had nothing but a positive message for the fans on social media.
Thank you for all the love you showed, either in the field or outside it. Your support will make me want to heal faster, and try my best to come back to play along with my mates in the Arsenal, and assist my national team ♥️🙏🏻💪🏻
