Piers Morgan says he would’ve picked this Arsenal star to be new captain apart from Aubameyang
Piers Morgan has embraced the decision to hand Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang the captain’s armband while adding that one of the youngest players in the squad could have been considered for the role as well.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery did not improve his relationship with the fans by making Granit Xhaka the club captain earlier in the season and it did not take too long for that decision to backfire.
After the controversial incident which saw Xhaka react to getting booed by the fans while he was being substituted against Crystal Palace, the midfielder has lost his place as captain of the team.
Emery has chosen to name star striker Aubameyang as the new skipper, almost two years after the Gabon international’s move to the club.
Piers Morgan agrees with the decision from the Arsenal boss but he also believes Matteo Guendouzi could have been considered for the role.
According to Morgan, the young Frenchman was his other choice for the captaincy, despite the player being only 20 years old.
BREAKING: Arsenal's new captain is @Aubameyang7. Again, good decision. He's our best player & seems to get what it means to play for our club. I'd have gone for him or Guendouzi. pic.twitter.com/cKoUpwgfCp
