Pires speaks on Emery’s progress as new Arsenal manager
Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has spoken about the progress which the Gunners’ new boss Unai Emery has made so far in his career at the Emirates stadium.
The Gunners decided to appoint Emery as Arsene Wenger’s replacement back in May, despite the fact that rumours had linked Mikel Arteta with the job.
Arsenal have been brilliant to watch so far under their new boss, having put together an impressive run which has seen them avoid defeat in 21 straight matches in all competitions.
With a big portion of the season still left, it might be too early to get carried away but Emery has displayed some qualities which Wenger appeared to be lacking towards the end of his reign.
Thus, former Gunner Pires, who won several honours at the club, has heaped praise on Arsenal’s new manager.
“I think he’s put a good spirit inside the dressing room. I think Arsenal have found a new face, maybe with a new philosophy, because this guy is like a warrior.” the former Arsenal star said
“You can see him when he’s on the bench: he’s a little bit crazy, but good crazy.
“He wants to help, every minute, the players. You need to talk, you need to have good communication with the players. I think this is a new thing for them, but a good thing”
After two seasons without Champions League football, Emery will be looking to guide the club towards a return to Europe’s elite club competition next season.
