‘Playing with him is so easy’: Pablo Mari chooses one ‘unbelievable’ Arsenal teammate for praise
Arsenal’s January signing Pablo Mari has picked out one of his new teammates for praise after almost two months in north London, following his move from Brazil.
Due to the serious knee injury which Calum Chambers suffered in late December, new Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had no choice but to shop for another defender during the winter transfer window.
With the club mainly interested in completing cheap and affordable deals, Arteta decided to target the services of Pablo Mari, who went on to secure a loan move to the Emirates stadium from Flamengo.
The Spanish defender took a while to settle into the team before making his debut for the Gunners in the 2-0 win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup.
Mari then went on to make his first Premier League appearance in the 1-0 triumph over West Ham, which came only days before the current football suspension due to the coronavirus outbreak.
After featuring in those two games alongside David Luiz, Arsenal’s January signing has heaped praise on the Brazilian defender.
Even though Luiz has been somewhat of a much-maligned figure at the club, Mari appears to have been left impressed by the veteran centre-back.
“We know that David is an unbelievable player,” he said, as per Arsenal.com
“He’s had a good career and is a good football player, and also playing with him is so easy. These two games with him in the starting XI were nice because I only focused on my job and I didn’t need to focus on other jobs.
“This is easy when you want to have a big game. We know he’s an experienced player and sometimes when you need to do different things in the last minutes, like when you need to make calls or something like this, he can do it. For us, it’s easy to play with him.”
