Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has expressed his thoughts on Arsenal’s leading performer so far this season.

The Gunners have received more praise than usual after responding to an opening day defeat to Liverpool with a long unbeaten run in all competitions.

Arsene Wenger has the likes of Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to thank for most of the goals this term.

However, former Liverpool and Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp insists only one of the trio in Arsenal’s attack has really caught his attention thus far.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “Arsenal would have really struggled to beat Bournemouth on Sunday had it not been for Alexis Sanchez. The man is dynamite!

“His two strikes were the sort of goals Ian Wright used to score — making sure he was in the right place at the right time. He chases every lost cause and is a nuisance to play against.

“Sanchez now has eight goals from 13 games having scored just five at the same stage last season.

“Playing centrally suits him so much more — I’m amazed it has taken Arsene Wenger this long to work it out! He gives Arsenal their cutting edge.”
