Holding: How we knew PSG were losing on Tuesday
Arsenal defender Rob Holding has revealed how him and the rest of the Gunners squad were informed about what was going on elsewhere during yesterday’s clash with Basel.
Arsene Wenger’s men went into the trip to Switzerland with the path to finishing top of their Champions League group looking highly unlikely after the draw with Paris Saint-Germain two weeks ago.
However, a surprise result in France which saw Bulgarian underdogs Ludogorets hold the Ligue 1 champions to a draw helped get the job done for Arsenal.
According to Holding who was handed a rare start against Basel, the squad could not help but anxiously check the scoreline in Paris during the half-time break on Tuesday night.
“We saw the scores [of PSG losing 1-0 at half-time] as we were coming in so we knew that, if we kept doing our job, the rest would take care of itself. It turns out it has done so it’s a great night for us.” the 21-year-old said after the match
The centre-back has also heaped praise on the side Arsene Wenger has put together to compete for the Champions League crown this season.
“We’ve got a great squad here with options in every position and all the players who stepped in produced a good performance. All we can do is our best each time we’re picked and I think we’ve done that.” he added
