Bacary Sagna and William Gallas started for France as ‘Les Blues’ suffered yet another embarrassment ahead of the World Cup in 0-1 home defeat to China.

Sagna only played 45 minutes of action, but Gallas caused surprises by completing the entire match despite a recent calf problem and illness.

The 32-year-old thought he had put France in front early on, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Gallas was very active in attack all night for the French and found several chances from close range – including an opportunity to salvage an equalizer with the last kick of the game.

Abou Diaby was sent on after 63 minutes and the 24-year-old not only renewed France’s urgency in attack but forced the hosts’ best attempt at goal from long-range late on.
