‘Selfish sulking’ – Piers Morgan slams Arsenal star who has ‘rightly angered’ fans
Piers Morgan has shared his thoughts on why one Arsenal player actually deserved harsh treatment from the fans in the midst of the team’s poor form.
The Gunners are in a worrying position in the Premier League once again after what has been an erratic start to the campaign.
One of the most controversial decisions made by Unai Emery this term was to name the much-maligned Granit Xhaka his captain despite the Switzerland international’s uninspiring form over the past 12 months.
The midfielder’s toxic relationship with the fans reached a tipping point during the clash against Crystal Palace as he was jeered while he was being substituted.
Some have defended Xhaka for his reaction but Piers Morgan insists the former Bundesliga star remains on the guilty side.
The midfielder’s actions have been labelled as ‘selfish sulking’ by Morgan, who slammed Xhaka in response to journalist Oliver Holt’s attempt to defend the 27-year-old.
At no stage of this diatribe do you say why Xhaka got booed. Arsenal fans got angry with him because he wouldn’t get off the pitch quickly when we were desperately chasing another goal. It was his selfish sulking, particularly as Captain, that rightly angered supporters. https://t.co/xA6OxPnNFs

It is still unclear whether the midfielder will be given the chance to remain as Arsenal’s captain following what has been a very tough week for him.
