Steven Gerrard has expressed support for Arsene Wenger following the Gunners’ FA Cup victory on Saturday.

The Arsenal manager has faced severe scrutiny for much of this seaosn due to his side’s disappointing challenge for the Premier League title.

However, the Gunners finished off the 2016/17 campaign on a very memorable note by defeating Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley.

And according to former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, the triumph against the Blues should see Wenger receive plaudits for the strength in character he has shown thus far.

“They’ve had a tough season and this is a fantastic moment for all of them, but I bet there is no prouder man than Arsene Wenger right now.” Gerrard said

“The stick that the man has taken all season long… you’ve got to be pleased for him. He’s so thick-skinned.

“He played many gambles today and he pulled them off, so you’ve got to give him credit.”
