new arsenal signing

During Arsene Wenger’s reign, a host of talented players have been convinced to move to London in pursuit of a chance to play under the guidance of the Frenchman.

One of those stars is Mesut Ozil who is currently recognized as the most expensive player ever in the Gunners’ long history.

The German international opted to join Arsenal back in the summer of 2013 after falling out with then Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

However, Ozil has revealed that was not the only reason why he felt the need to move to the Emirates stadium in a deal which cost $52.1 million.

“I spoke with Wenger and he wanted me at Arsenal. I said ‘if I get the opportunity to change clubs, you’ll be the first [choice]’,” Ozil told Arsenal’s official Youtube channel.

“So we spoke and I decided to come. I remember [Thierry] Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires – such great players – and I wanted to be a part of them.

“My first and second year we won the FA Cup. I really enjoy playing for such a big club like Arsenal,” the 2014 World Cup winner added.
