‘Szczesny will be sitting on the bench now’
Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Hull City was greeted with all sort of reactions from the Arsenal faithful as usual.
This Gooner insists that the idea of Arsenal needing a new goalkeeper is wrong since David Ospina now appears to be a better option than Wojciech Szczesny.
But is he right?
I honestly think we do not need another goal keeper. Simply because I have seen enough of szczesny & Ospina to know we have two great goal keepers.
What is even better is that both of the have the talent, skill & experience to be our number 1. The problem is Wenger’s management of both.
Szczesny has been given the top dog status in our GK department. He has earned it but history has proved, time & time again that he tends to get very complacent when unopposed and this always affects his form. We always see the best of him when he is fighting for his position. Case in point, the stupid errors he made at Soton after going the whole season unopposed.
Then there’s Ospina who showed in the build up to the 2014 WC & in the tournament itself that he is something special. This is also true when looking at the games he played for us. His composure, reading of the game and most importantly his shot stopping ability are truly remarkable to watch. I was very impressed with his game against Hull.
I feel that Wenger needs to pit them against each other if we are to see the best of them. Giving szczesny the number 1 spot & denying Ospina the chance to compete for it means that Szczesny gets complacent & Ospina gets discouraged, a waste of talent both ways. Rotating GKs is not like rotating out field players as it has least effect on the momentum & coninuity of a team. As such Wenger should give them both enough games to give a clear picture of who should be our top dog or if that status should be shared among the two.
Ospina remains truly untested at this moment in time. He needs a run of games.
Chesney gets complacent and is flat footed a lot of the time.
Wouldnt mind an experienced match winner to come and join the squad to be honest.
Even szcz being an idiot is Wengers fault, according to Marcus oSillyos. Ospina is only back,so you think Wenger should have dropped szcz like szcz drops crosses for Ospina the second Ospina recovered and just in time before the clanger clanged… what brilliant hindsight youve got there Marcus, if only our manger had it.
We need a confident professional GK just as much as any other new recruit in regards to gaining ground on che and manc. An understatement is Arsenal need P Cech. He would be one of our best signings ever.
The only obstacle is that Mourinho knows this too. He (Mourinho) could be a gentleman and weigh up the years, loyalty, displays, leadership, stability etc his keeper has given and so then come to the conclusion that Cech and his familys happiness are more important than a football rivalry… he would then allow him to choose a stay in London playing CL football. Doesnt sound like Mourinho behavior though, i expect him to fight tooth and nail.
arsen wenger ve pamper his players too much that they dont even care if they are losing a game or not. we can only see the best of arsenal when equal opportunity is given to every one and stop favouring others even when they are not fit.
This weekend againsta stoke i would prefer Szcz for strictly the height then maybe give ospina a chance
Wozs the hell is going on.. Another player caught smoking. How stupid can you get, lighting up in showers after the game. Time for Wenger to get serious with player fitness and discipline. Ship him out and send a message to others. This isn’t 1950’s and smoking ain’t good for you..
