‘That was so poor from him’ – Fans react to Arsenal star’s performance on Saturday
A good amount of Arsenal fans have expressed their concerns about Shkodran Mustafi for the first time since his debut for the club last month.
The German international was recruited from Valencia as an immediate fix to Arsenal’s defensive problems which saw Liverpool ran away with a 4-3 win from their trip to the Emirates stadium on the opening day of the season.
Since making his debut for the Gunners in the 2-1 victory over Southampton in early September, Mustafi has formed a solid partnership with Laurent Koscielny which has seen Arsenal maintain an impressive unbeaten run in all competitions.
However, the 24-year-old had at least one moment to forget on Saturday as his failure to deal with a long ball saw Duncan Watmore go on to win a penalty-kick for Sunderland.
Arsenal managed to recover from that set-back as goals from Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez secured a 4-1 triumph.
Even so, some Gooners did not hide their disappointment over how Jermaine Defoe was given a chance to score from the spot…
You know how much abuse Gabriel would get if he let someone through on goal like Mustafi did

Mustafi has been good for arsenal so far, but far from great to be honest. Too many weird mistakes in his game at the moment. Time to fix it

That was so poor from Mustafi but I'm not surprised. Good he's gotten his first mistake out of his system.

I don't care what any Arsenal fan thinks im not convinced at all by Mustafi. Concentration and over maverick mistakes. One a game. #AFC

Not much to moan about regarding #AFC season so far, but Koscielny – Mustafi have to improve. They play too high and it's not the first time
