Preferred line-up

                          Szczesny

Debuchy – Chambers – Koscielny – Monreal

                   Flamini – Wilshere

            Ox CazorlaSanchez

                        Campbell

Why?

Starting with the men at the back, Koscielny – if fit enough – should be preferred to Mertesacker for obvious reasons. On Per’s return, Arsenal looked out of sorts against Everton while Koscielny and Chambers had been doing a solid job thus far. Interestingly though, Wenger may go with total experience and start Mertesacker and Koscienly instead.

In Ramsey’s absence, Wilshere’s place in the starting line-up is now inevitable considering how Flamini will need support in central midfield from someone who can put in tackles and retain the ball.Tomas Rosicky has been missing in action but his creative energy and ability to put in defensive work will bee needed.

Even though he is not in the starting line-up, the Czech international should be called upon at some point. Back in midfield should be Cazorla who thrive best in the ‘hole’ behind the striker. The Spaniard got the rest he needed after playing the sub role on Saturday – to great effect – and he should be fresh again to fire the bullets on Wednesday.

Sanchez (from the start) and Oxlade-Chamberlain (towards the end) were the men who truly threatened Besiktas in the first leg. The Turkish side appears to struggle against players who drive at them directly with pace and the audacious Joel Campbell should add to their problems if featured tomorrow.  The Costa Rica striker is not an unknown quantity when it comes to playing as a center-forward – even with his back to goal to hold the ball up – after doing just that during his country’s clash with Greece at the World Cup.
