Arsenal target Thomas Lemar has spoken to the media for the first time following the Gunners’ late attempt to secure his services on transfer deadline day.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to the Emirates stadium for much of this summer but the transfer failed to materialise after AS Monaco’s decision to turn down several offers from Arsenal.

However, with Alexis Sanchez seemingly bound for a Manchester City switch, the Gunners made one more attempt to sign the highly-rated attacking midfielder on Thursday.

And Arsenal certainly received the response they wanted this time as Monaco accepted their bid, but personal terms could not be agreed with Lemar who was unwilling to move to north London.

However, after scoring a brilliant goal for France in their clash with Netherlands, the Monaco star admitted after the match that his future was still hanging in the balance.
