The Gunners will travel to St. James Park on Saturday in search of a response to Wednesday night’s humbling defeat away at West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

Mikel Arteta named a weakened starting eleven for the trip to the Hammers in midweek, but the Arsenal boss will be expected to put together a much stronger line-up for the daunting visit to Newcastle this weekend.

At the back, William Saliba is likely to return to partner up with Gabriel, in a defensive pairing which many deem as one of the best in the Premier League this term.

David Raya appears to be Arteta’s number one thesedays and that is not likely to change tomorrow, but what actually needs changing is the options at full-back. Zinchenko has been underforming lately and that should see Tomiyasu step in, just as he did away at Sevilla last week while Ben White maintains his spot at right-back despite the own goal at West Ham.

In midfield, Declan Rice is bound to start and the key question is about whom he is paired up with. This time, Elneny should be the man, due to Jorginho’s lightweight displays in recent times and the fact that Partey remains injured.

Martin Odegaard is expected to return to the starting eleven and right infront of the Norwegian should be Saka and Martinelli, with last week’s hattrick hero Eddie Nketiah starting upfront.

PREDICTED TEAM

Raya

White – Saliba – Gabriel – Tomiyasu

Rice – Elneny

Odegaard

Saka – Nketiah – Martinelli
