Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club has made an effort to complete am important deal as the January transfer window approaches.

Arsenal have been in encouraging form this season on the back of what many deemed to be quality additions to the squad during the summer transfer window.

However, there may be more deals for the Gunners to get done with certain key players being linked with moves to rival clubs in the Premier League and around Europe.

Hector Bellerin, who still has three years remaining on his current deal, is one of the stars who appears to have attracted the interest of other big clubs.

Recent reports have suggested the 21-year-old has turned down the possibility of joining former club Barcelona by agreeing to sign a new deal at the Emirates stadium which would see his wages increase significantly.

According to Wenger, those reports are indeed true as the club processes a new contract for the Spaniard.

“We are working on that,” Wenger said, as quoted by the Evening Standard

“And we are not far. It will be great. Let’s say ‘it is great’ when it is done.”
