Arsene Wenger has confirmed that one of his star forwards will be omitted from the squad which travels to Burnley for Sunday’s Premier League clash.

The Gunners managed to bounce back from the 3-1 defeat at Manchester City by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 last Saturday to remain in the race for a top four spot at least.

However, Arsenal’s declining form in the Europa League continued on Thursday night as a penalty-kick conceded in the second half decided the game in favour of Cologne.

And ahead of this weekend’s clash with Burnley, Wenger has revealed that Theo Walcott, despite being able to participate in training, will be removed from the squad which faces Sean Dyche’s side due to illness.

“For the weekend, no [he is not available]. He’s back in training now, so he should be okay for next week. He has been ill.” the Gunners manager said.

After finishing last season as Arsenal’s second top scorer behind Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott has endured an underwhelming start to this campaign, featuring sparingly in the Premier League.
