Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his side has been hit by a new injury blow heading into this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Southampton.

The Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United last Saturday despite dominating the match against the Red Devils at the Emirates stadium.

Wenger watched his side return to winning ways on Thursday night as a fluid attacking display saw them thrash BATE Borisov 6-0 in the Europa League.

But ahead of the trip to Southampton, the Arsenal manager has confirmed that key defender Shkodran Mustafi will not be available for selection.

“The only one out at the moment is Mustafi. He is certainly not available for Sunday.” the Arsenal manager said at his pre-match press conference

“There’s a little chance of him coming back for West Ham, but he will not be available for Sunday.”

The absence of Mustafi means Calum Chambers or Rob Holding has improved hopes of making a rare start in the Premier League after featuring on Thursday.”
