Arsene Wenger has made an important new statement on the club’s hopes of retaining the services of two of its most valuable players ahead of the January transfer window.

The Arsenal manager was subject to serious scrutiny from fans and pundits heading into the new season after signing only two players during the summer transfer window.

Wenger’s worries have been compounded by the fact that the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are yet to commit their future to the club with less than a year remaining on their contracts.

The duo were in superb form on Saturday as the Gunners managed to defeat north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at home in the Premier League.

And following the 2-0 win over Spurs, Wenger has made a positive statement on the club’s hopes of seeing Sanchez and Ozil sign new deals, insisting that they “love the club and want to stay”.

“I am convinced they love the club and love the team, but all the rest will be decided – when? I don’t really know,” Wenger said

“I believe they love the club and want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well.”
